There were outstanding team performances at the Plovdiv U20 World Cup in Bulgaria this weekend.

The GB women’s team, with Truro’s Caiti Maxwell and Maria Chart, plus Salle Ossian’s Jess Corby and City’s Shreya Anil, put in a brilliant performance to finish 4th out of 16 countries.

The highlight was a superb win over the very strong Italian team 45/32. They also posted a strong win over Mexico, but just missed their first World Cup medal, losing 45/44 in a nail-biter against USA.

The boys’ team were placed an excellent 5th out of 20, defeating Canada, Hungary and Poland. The team of 4 featured Truro’s Will Deary and Josh Maxwell

This is an outstanding start for both teams, and means that both disciplines are now qualified for the junior European and World Championships.
